PD Dr. Nadja Meindl‑Beinker is a senior researcher at Heidelberg University’s Medical Faculty Mannheim in the Molecular Hepatology department. Since 2010, her work has centered on transforming growth factor‑β (TGF‑β) signaling and its complex roles in chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma .
She earned her doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) and completed postdoctoral research at Ruhr University Bochum and Stockholm University before joining Heidelberg in 2006. Nadja has published over 75 papers, accumulating more than 1,700 citations.
Her research has elucidated the tumor‑suppressive and pro‑tumorigenic functions of TGF‑β and its inhibitors like Smad7 in liver injury, fibrosis, and cancer progression. More recently, she has contributed to studies on biomarkers and immunotherapy in solid tumors, including esophageal and liver cancers.
Nadja Meindl‑Beinker’s work integrates molecular cell biology and clinical oncology to advance diagnostics and potential therapies for hepatic diseases.
