PD Dr. Tianzuo Zhan

Prof. Zhan earned his MD from Heidelberg University in 2011 and began his internal medicine training at UMM that same year. From 2013 to 2018, he conducted postdoctoral research in Signaling and Functional Genomics at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg. Since 2019, he has been part of the DFG-funded Clinician Scientist Program and leads his own junior research group focused on translational gastrointestinal oncology, specifically investigating mechanisms of chemoresistance in colorectal cancer.

He has received multiple awards, including the Adolf Kußmaul Award (2018) and Cancer Research Award Mannheim (2019), and has successfully secured international fellowships. His work has produced numerous publications, including on Wnt‑mediated stem cell plasticity and gut microbiome–drug interactions.

Prof. Zhan is also actively involved in clinical service and teaching at UMM.
