Dr. Kim Boonekamp is a postdoctoral researcher in the Boutros Lab at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and BioQuant Heidelberg. Her work focuses on functional genomics and molecular human genetics, with a particular interest in how genetic and pharmacological perturbations shape cellular phenotypes in cancer.
She works with advanced model systems such as patient-derived colorectal cancer organoids and applies high-throughput imaging, multi-omics profiling, and computational analysis to uncover how signaling pathways influence cell behavior. Dr. Boonekamp is a co-author of the comprehensive phenotypic atlas of drug-treated colorectal cancer organoids, published in Nature Communications, which maps how small molecules induce distinct morphological and molecular responses in tumor cells.
Through her interdisciplinary approach, combining wet-lab biology and data-driven analysis, Dr. Boonekamp contributes to a deeper understanding of genetic interactions and pathway dynamics in human disease, supporting the development of more precise and personalized therapeutic strategies.
